Holiday Mission

Mission San Antonio.

This is my first plein air, out after breaking the old leg. I was sitting on a tripod stool for about three hours. Oh what can I say, Numb B!
Did a second painting last week but sold it before I could photograph it. So far I have done about 30 paintings since my fall on Santa Cruz. I wished to do one a day, but can't complain!

meet Taffy

Taffy. 5x5"

I was thinking of doing alot of small paintings, put them in great little frames and hang on Christmas tree... However sometimes a tiny painting is harder than a good sized one!

Kisses

mmm, I think i will do a series of Holiday candy, if i don't eat it all.
sorry i am not sure how to rotate this poor kiss!

Up the Hill

An orderly parade of Palms march up the hill above our home.

Happy Halloween

My haunted house. I bought this for my 28 year old daughter Rose. Turns out this is a rare German doll house circa 1900. Furnishing it could cost more than redoing a real home!

Painting a Day

Yes I did promise to do a painting a day! Not always possible! But I really try, even when I don't want to. At least I do something like a small color study. Many of our sunsets are so wonderful how they turn the foothills shades of purples. Very hard to capture in just a few fleeting minutes!
So here a a couple of quickies.

Clyde Aspevig

Friday and Saturday I was lucky to go to Clyde's demo and talk. What a great man. I wanted to cement what he had shared, so I did my homework.

Indian Summer

And this is a Indian Summer Monday morning. One can see over 20 miles to Santa Cruz Island. Each canyon is defined.

Foggy Days

One day we are in the mist then the next we can see all the way to the islands. This is the misty Sunday.

cacti

A view of same cacti in oil!

Pastels

A wonderful pastel teacher, Deborah Breeden, brought her class up to the ranch. I was lucky enough to set up near her and try my hand at pastels!
I belive this is called an Echiveria Cacti

Last of the Ginger

Looking out of bedroom window to the South. We look forward to the blooms every July thru Sept. It's like living in Hawaii.

working on a 360o

Ok I am an honest person! perhaps a painting a day of each view from my ranch is a bit lofty. Now that I have gone back to work and trying to get around with a broken leg, not much time for a master piece each day!! haha , but I always keep my promises, so at least I do a drawing or exercise each day, even a quick still life while dinner cooks. These Avos were part of the menu!

Rincon Mnt.

As many of you who know me will agree I don't sit still for a moment. Since I broke my leg and could'nt go to work. I have decided to do a 360 o. I will do a painting each day of the year (-5) of each degree of views from my home. This blog will be my Diary!

These works are what I would consider un finished and way to diddely,Is that a word? You know what that means when you start painting little flowers in the foreground because you never stand back!

Rincon mountain and the Bluffs excercise trail

One of my favorite places to paint. Its amazing, while I paint, many people I know in the area jog by. My waistline grows and they firm up. Oh well, I would rather paint!

Santa Barbara Art Show

For the last couple of years it has been hard on the local artists who show at this event, lot of drop outs. I began a couple of months ago and felt like things were turning around. Now all of a sudden lots of new artists have joined, I guess I will have to arm wrestle my buddies for a space!
I try to paint while I am at the show and time flies!
